Welcome to Week 27.
We’re officially halfway through 2021! Can you believe it? 😲
Remember back in January when you were all excited about the new year and the possibilities...well, how’s it going for you?
Regardless of how you started the year and how it’s going now, there is never a bad time to check in with yourself about your self-care. And this doesn’t have to be complicated. A quick and sincere “how you doin?’” in the mirror and a few moments of reflection can be all it takes to let you know if you’re good or if it’s time to make some changes. Remember, you deserve to give yourself THE best lovin’... ESPECIALLY when you’ve got a to-do list that’s a mile long. Who better to give you exactly the kind of lovin’ you need than YOU?
One of the BEST things you can do to show yourself some love is to MOVE your body – regularly and intentionally. That’s why this month we’re taking a deep dive into all the wonders of MOVEMENT and how it impacts pretty much EVERY aspect of your life!
And now that the Her365 Fitness studio/gym is open for indoor exercise again, you have access to even more options for intentional movement, including cardio and strength training using weights and machines. Check out our Reopening Guide if you missed it last week.
When you exercise regularly, your body FEELS and FUNCTIONS better from the inside out. I’m sure you already know this, but it’s my job to remind you that you have to MOVE if you want your body to do what it’s supposed to do. Of course, there is more to feeling and functioning better than movement (such as eating however is best for your body, getting quality sleep, managing stress, and more). We’ll dig into those along this journey together, but this month we’re focusing on MOVEMENT.
Here’s a list of just some of the many benefits of regular exercise:
Longer life because you are less likely to die early from chronic disease.
Less risk of heart disease, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers (including colon, breast, lung, and uterine).
Better mood, less stress and anxiety, and improved mental health.
Improved brain health (both the structure AND how it functions).
Stronger bones and muscles.
Better sleep (both quality and quantity).
More satisfying sex life.
Lower risk of falling down (seniors aren’t the only ones who fall down, sis…)
Improved weight control if that’s your goal.
Easier time quitting smoking.
Doesn’t your amazing body deserve all that!? (ANSWER: Yes, she does!)
BONUS: You do NOT have to spend hours a week working out to get these payoffs.
I hear from womxn all the time who tell me that they feel the difference when they’ve been less physically active than usual (fun fact: no one says it feels good). Your body WANTS you to move. So take a walk, stretch, hop in a class, come in for a studio/gym session -- doesn’t matter what you do...just move!
I’ve got a LOT of great info coming your way over the next couple of weeks, including the answers to some of my most-asked questions!
But I have a question for YOU first:
What is your biggest fitness / movement / health-related goal right now? 📥 Leave a comment below and let me know.
I look forward to connecting with you however you are able to show up.
Together we'll keep on movin'!

BREAK DANCE
Take a break and dance! Press play on this video for a quick throwback jam session. This was my jam back in 2004 and it still gets me up and dancing today. Enjoy!💃🏽🇵🇷
Note: Despite the lyrics, I am not endorsing moving your body for any "fellas" or anyone else unless that's what you want to do and are not feeling pressured or obligated to do so. Move because it feels good and because it's good for you. Period.
GROUP MOVEMENT OPTIONS
